A clean, fast, and local notepad engineered for focus, absolute privacy, and zero data-lockin.
1. The Seyethe Standard & Philosophy
Seyethe Notes was created to counter modern note-taking applications that force subscriptions, mandatory cloud synchronizations, telemetry profiling, and intrusive popups onto your everyday personal thoughts.
- Zero Ads, Zero Trackers, Zero Telemetry: We collect zero data. There are no analytics libraries, crash loggers, or telemetry hooks embedded in the code.
- 100% Offline Local Architecture: Your notes are stored exclusively in sandbox storage on your local device. The app does not require nor request network permissions.
- Zero Subscriptions or Artificial Caps: Create unlimited notes and checklists without paywalls, locked pro features, or document limits.
- Sound Off by Default: Audio feedback is always muted at launch to protect quiet meeting rooms and bedside focus. Unmute anytime with one tap.
- Instant Auto-Save & Ghost Discard: Every keystroke is saved immediately. Empty, unedited drafts are purged automatically upon exit to keep your dashboard clean.
- Zero Lock-In Guarantee: Export notes as standard plain-text (
.txt) files or package your entire collection into open, uncompressed ZIP backup archives (.zip) directly on your device.
2. Interface Views & Layout
Seyethe Notes features a responsive, fluid layout designed to scale naturally across smartphones, foldables, and tablets in both Portrait and Landscape orientations:
- Main List View: The primary dashboard organizes your documents cleanly with a real-time keyword search bar, a dynamic Sort Mode pill, interactive note cards with color tags and pin badges, and a prominent + NEW NOTE button.
- Note Editor & Reader Canvas: Features an uncluttered typing canvas with proportional technical typography, an on-device prediction strip, and a live word and character counter docked in the bottom-right corner.

4. Note Management & Dynamic Sorting
- Automatic Derived Titles: The first non-empty line of your text automatically becomes the document title (markdown checkbox prefixes like
[ ] are stripped cleanly). The second line forms the card preview snippet.
- The Four Dynamic Sort Modes: Tap the SORT pill to cycle through organizational views:
- RECENT: Sorted chronologically by last modified timestamp. Pinned notes remain locked at the top.
- A-Z: Sorted alphabetically by derived title (case-insensitive). Pinned notes sort A-Z at top.
- COLOR: Sorted by color stripe rank (Blue → Green → Yellow → Red → Purple → Gray).
- MANUAL: Custom user-defined order using intuitive drag-and-drop reordering.
- Manual Drag-and-Drop: In MANUAL mode, touch and hold any card for 250ms to lift it with an elevated drop shadow, drag vertically to your target slot, and release. Pinned and unpinned items stay in their respective zones.
- Pinning & Color Tags: Pin critical notes to lock them permanently to the top of your list with a gold pin badge. Assign one of 6 color palette stripes via the Editor Modal to visually group related lists.
- Full-Text Local Search: The search bar filters titles and full body text across your entire archive in real time. Queries match international accents and are case-insensitive. Tap X to clear instantly.
- Card Action Sheet (⋮): Tap the three dots on any card to pin/unpin, duplicate, delete (session-recoverable via List Undo), or share via your mobile OS share sheet.
5. Note Editor & Reader Engine
- Reader Mode (Default): Opening a note displays clean formatted text. Tapping checkbox squares checks or unchecks them directly without summoning the keyboard or shifting the screen viewport.
- Edit Mode: Tap the Pencil icon in the toolbar to open the keyboard and typing caret. The icon turns into a green Checkmark; tapping it dismisses the keyboard and returns to Reader Mode.
- Typography Scaling: Open the Editor Modal (⋮) to adjust font size across the entire app:
- SMALL (S): 15.0 pt — High-density long-form reading and tablets.
- MEDIUM (M): 18.0 pt — Default balanced reading and typing on mobile devices.
- LARGE (L): 22.0 pt — Rapid handheld viewing while walking store aisles.
- EXTRA LARGE (XL): 27.0 pt — Maximum readability, desk stands, and accessibility.
- Live Telemetry: A docked pill in the bottom-right corner displays live word and character counts (e.g.,
42 WORDS | 286 CHARS), updating dynamically when text is selected.
6. Interactive Checklists & Transformation
Seyethe Notes uses standard markdown checklist tokens ([ ] and [x]):
- Tap-to-Toggle: Tap any checkbox square directly on the canvas to check or uncheck it. Completed items are styled with strike-through text and subtle dimming to keep pending tasks prominent.
- Auto-Continue on Enter: Pressing ENTER while typing on a checklist item automatically prepends an empty checkbox
[ ] to the next line.
- Empty Line Escape: Pressing ENTER on an empty checkbox line clears the checkbox marker and returns to a clean newline.
- Smart Backspace Unwinding: Pressing BACKSPACE immediately after a
[ ] token erases the checkbox, reverting the line to standard plain text.
- Advanced Checklist Tools (in Editor Modal ⋮):
- SORT (A-Z): Alphabetically sorts active tasks, followed by completed tasks, preserving headers.
- FLOAT TASKS TO TOP: Moves active
[ ] items to the top, completed [x] items below, and reference text to the bottom.
- RESET ALL CHECKBOXES: Restores all completed
[x] markers to unchecked [ ] for recurring packing lists or routines.
- STRIP CHECKED, KEEP TEXT: Removes
[x] markers while keeping active tasks intact.
- STRIP ALL, KEEP TEXT: Converts the entire checklist into clean plain text.
- DELETE COMPLETED ITEMS: Permanently purges all lines beginning with
[x].
7. Order by Reference Note (Store Walk Order)
The ORDER BY NOTE... engine eliminates the frustration of backtracking through grocery aisles. Instead of locking you into a rigid, proprietary database, Seyethe Notes uses plain text documents as spatial sequence templates:
- How It Works: Maintain a master reference note (e.g., Supermarket Walk Order) listing items in the physical order you encounter them in your local store. Jot items down randomly in a separate Grocery List. Before shopping, open your list, tap ⋮, select ORDER BY NOTE..., and choose your walk template. Your list instantly snaps into entrance-to-checkout order!
- The Multi-Store Pivot: If the first store is out of items, open your list, tap ORDER BY NOTE..., and select a second store's template (e.g., Target Walk Order). Your remaining items re-sort instantly to match Store 2's aisle layout.
- Smart Fuzzy Matching: Matches items reliably even when quantities or specifications are added (e.g.,
cucumbers x2 matches cucumbers; penne matches Penne Pasta). Uses word boundaries so Rice will never falsely match Ice.
- Unmatched Items Preserved: Any item not found in the reference template is clustered safely at the bottom of the list without losing its place, so nothing is ever missed. Need to incorporate something at the bottom of your grocery list into your walk order? Simple! Just add it in the proper position in the applicable walk order note, and reorder your grocery list against it.
8. 100% Local Predictive AI Engine
Unlike cloud-backed autocomplete systems that stream your keystrokes to remote corporate servers, the Seyethe Notes Prediction Engine runs 100% locally on your device:
- Private Training: Builds high-performance in-memory models derived strictly and exclusively from your own local notes archive. Nothing leaves your phone from the Seyethe Notes app itself: it literally can't. The app doesn't request nor use network permissions, ever.
- Multi-Word Phrase Suggestions: Suggests single words and multi-word phrases frequently used together in your notes. Phrase suggestions are highlighted prominently in Corporate Blue.
- Smart Casing Matcher: Autocomplete pills mirror your typed casing style across lowercase, capitalized, and uppercase words.
- Dual-Layer Prediction: Operates alongside your device’s native virtual keyboard (Gboard or Apple QuickType). You can accept general spelling corrections from the system keyboard and technical, multi-word phrases from the Seyethe strip seamlessly.
- Virtual Keyboard Privacy Note: Keep in mind that although Seyethe Notes literally cannot leverage any network function, other portions of your phone can and often do. For example, it is conceivable that what you type on the system's virtual keyboard may end up on the network, depending on your device's configuration, but this is in no way attributable to the app.
9. Text Selection & Selection Toolbar
- Double-Tap Word Select: Double-tap any word on the canvas to select it immediately. Double-tap and hold to drag and expand your selection word-by-word with auto-scrolling at the screen edges.
- Selection Action Bar: Selecting text transforms the top toolbar into a dedicated 5-button action bar:
- ALL: Expands the selection to highlight the entire document.
- LIST: Converts the highlighted lines into a checklist (or strips checkboxes if already present).
- PASTE: Overwrites highlighted text with clipboard contents.
- CUT: Copies highlighted text to the clipboard and deletes it.
- COPY: Copies highlighted text to the clipboard.
10. In-Note Find & Navigation
Select FIND IN NOTE... from the Editor Modal to summon the localized search bar:
- Match Highlighting: All matching occurrences illuminate in Amber Yellow; the active match glows with higher opacity.
- Next / Prev Navigation: Tap > or < to jump the cursor and viewport between matches, tracked by a live match counter (e.g.,
1/2, 2/2).
- Smooth Fadeout: Tapping DONE dismisses the search bar, while the active match highlight undergoes a gentle 2.5-second fade so your eyes never lose their place on the page.
11. Multi-Tier Undo & Ghost Discard
- Document-Level Undo/Redo: Maintains a 100-state history stack per editing session in memory. Tap the toolbar Undo icon to step backward. Open the Editor Modal (⋮) and tap REDO TYPING to restore undone edits.
- Main List View Undo Stack: Located on the primary list dashboard (curved left-facing arrow). Recovers deleted notes (full body and metadata), restores pin states, removes accidental duplicates, and reverts manual reordering moves. Maintained while backgrounded.
- Ghost Note Discard: Tapping + NEW NOTE and backing out without typing any text automatically purges the empty draft from memory and storage, keeping your list clean.
12. Data Ownership, Export & Backup
Your notes. Your data. Stored exclusively on your device with complete portability:
- Single Note Export (.txt): Open any note, tap ⋮, and select EXPORT NOTE (.TXT) to save a universal UTF-8 plain-text file to your device.
- Full Archive Backup (.zip): Tap the Export All icon on the main list view. The app packages all notes into an uncompressed (Store Mode Method 0)
.zip archive labeled with a timestamp. 100% portable across Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, and Android.
- Importing Notes & Archives: Tap the Import icon on the list view to import standalone
.txt files or restore uncompressed .zip backups via your device file picker. The prediction engine re-trains on imported notes immediately.
- OS-Level Backup Privacy: Seyethe Notes does not use cloud servers. If your mobile operating system has automatic device backup enabled (such as iCloud or Google Backup), app sandbox files may be included in encrypted system-level backups by default. Many users prefer this since it guarantees their notes are available to them if a device is lost or damaged. But if desired, note that you can exclude Seyethe Notes from system backups anytime directly in your device's settings menu. If you need to do this but are unsure how, please consult available information online from your OS vendor (typically Google or Apple).
13. Master Lock & Privacy Controls
The optional Master Lock secures your notes content from prying eyes when sharing your physical device with children, friends, or colleagues:
- Setting Up: Tap the Muted Gray Shackle icon in the top toolbar of the main list view, enter a 1 to 8-digit PIN, and tap SUBMIT. The icon changes to a Blue Unlocked Shackle.
- Auto-Lock on Backgrounding: When a Master PIN is active, minimizing the app or switching to another application locks the session immediately, requiring PIN authentication upon returning.
- Manual Relock & Removal: Tap the Blue Unlocked Shackle and select RELOCK to lock immediately (turns into a Red Locked Shackle), or select REMOVE NOTES PIN to wipe the passcode completely.
14. About Screen & Transparency
Tap the Seyethe brand header on the main menu to open the system information screen. It displays the version string, build timestamp (YYMMDDXX), our operational principles, and acknowledgments to open-source libraries (SDL2, NanoSVG, and Google Gemini product guidance).
